   @porkcow @D-Droid @DW2 @RatPoster i mean lots of adults watch streaming on a regular basis, just the way they used to watch broadcast television. broadcast television being unwatchable except for the most ardent boomer probably helps.
   
   and i am very skeptical in general of the "get woke, go broke" hypothesis. it doesn't seem to actually have made anyone go broke, and the things that are held up as failures because they are "woke" either aren't actually failing the way the boomercon says they are, or are failing for different reasons unrelated to being woke. there's an ever-increasing amount of wokeness in our cultural atmosphere, which means that going broke ain't stopping people from getting woke.

     @Moon @D-Droid @DW2 @RatPoster @porkcow yeah, that's why the bearded fat youtuber screaming about the captain marvel sequel failing as some kind of grand victory for team chud rings hollow, when by all accounts it's just a bad movie. disney is fucking things up by making shitty movies no one wants to see, but i think only the failure of Wish can really be laid at the feet of it being "woke" in any way, since the politics of that actually dictated the terrible writing decisions. but it failed because of those (and other) bad decisions caused by the wokeness, not because the audience rebelled at it for being woke. had it had an actual good, catchy song for it's target audience it probably would have taken off and not failed as bad.
