This is a HUGE disappointment. No one knows how to make a good movie anymore. Hollywood as a whole is doomed.

@threalist Not yet. But this was going to be the only movie I was going to watch in an actual cinema for years.

Did you watch it? I was holding out hope since it is a Ridley Scott movie..

@Murray_N True. I'm just sad that western culture has lost the ability to tell a compelling story. It's an indicator than our culture is rotting away from within.

@djsumdog @threalist Maybe. I have my doubts about that too.

@djsumdog @threalist I saw Sonic with my son when he was 4 and he absolutely loved it. I also saw Avatar 2 in the movies (with the 3D glasses) just because. As far as movies go I'll probably never watch it again by hey, It was pretty.

I pirated the first one, and even watching it on my OLED TV in 4k/HDR with surround, I was like “I should have seen this in the theater.” … and I hate going to movies these days. Before 2020 I saw movies like every month. In the past two years, I’ve seen:

      • Nefarious (indie Christian movie, terrible)
      • Avatar II (a.k.a Blue Pocahontas II, sooo boring and terrible, even in eyeMax)
      • Sonic II (meh, okay)
      • Spiderman No Way Home (absolutely terrible)
      • Sonic I (I loved it. The two friends I went with hated it)

In the theaters I’ve only seen 5 movies in the past three years.

@ned I watch Oppenheimer the other day and it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't noteworthy either. Pretty boring, all in all. I heard it was playing in IMAX theaters this summer, so figured it probably had some good scenes, if nothing else. Instead it was 3hrs of woman problems and clearance hearings, with some math, and an explosion, mixed in. I'd been pissed if I paid for IMAX tickets!

Next up will be The Creator. Fingers crossed it's not a bunch of robot equity bullshit
