   @kf @onelson ok so here’s a Q i have: how do people who don’t listen to terrestrial radio keep up with popular music? i had friends in the pre-spotify era who i know didn’t listen to the radio and yet were caught up on everything

     @kf @mnemonica I've got several, including one which is wind-up (has a little crank) so I can tune in for emergency broadcasts when the Big One hits.

     “Christmas is All Around” is song from the movie Love Actually, where Bill Nighy plays an aging rockstar trying to achieve the Christmas number-one with a desperate, schlocky song.

     Last year I heard it playing on a broadcast Christmas radio station.

     This year on the radio, I heard an earnest COVER of the song.

     if we repeat this cycle enough times—and knowing how desperate we are to add to the stale canon of Christmas songs, we will—maybe Billy Mack will get that number one for reals.
