"Everything is an enum"
"[Weird rust exclusive thing that apparently makes the language better but just appears convoluted here]"
Learning these new concepts doesn't really make rust shine for me, it just makes it look harder and weirder to learn-

hirohito (hiro@epic.meme.moe)'s status on Sunday, 26-Nov-2023 04:15:43 JST hirohito @kirby@lab.nyanide.com Rust was designed for massive sprawling projects where adding all that structure is useful when you scale up to multiple people and millions of lines. (It's the philosophy of Java, too.)
Also alot of Rust features are things functional languages like Haskell and Lisp had in the 90s. It's convoluted because it tries to integrate two separate strands of language evolution (C descendants and ML descendants) together.Pleroma-tan likes this. -

rust is still on the way to become the 2020s java, it still lacks a proper cross platform UI toolkit iirc.Pleroma-tan likes this.Pleroma-tan repeated this. -
