   1. As the Fediverse grows over the next few days, a lot of FUD is bound to spread about it.

   How do I know this? That's what happened last time ?

   Today, I'm going to address all these "concerns" ?

     The whole "mirror fediverse" / "fun side of the fedi" is in fact quite amusing to watch, it's like a primordial soup of unmoderated hell threads with people competing hurl the most shocking insults at one another.
     
     I think the ideologies which people are afraid of ("Nazis") require taking one's self seriously enough that they can't survive such a chaotic environment.
     
     Recall Torba didn't rip federation out of Gab because the Left-fedi banned him, he ripped it out because @p mocked him incessantly, got the whole rest of the network doing it, and converted his users en-masse.
     
     I think a lot of the fear about online extremism is less that people will become terrorists and more that a new culture of irreverence and doubt will emerge, undermining political leaders and their institutions.

     Yes, Gab tried that. You know what happened? It was cut off from federation. Essentially, it's banned from the Fediverse.

     9. If ensuring the integrity of your social media data is important to you, there's an easy fix: host your own instance and make weekly or daily back-ups.

     Remember, you can own your own Fediverse data, but you can't own your Twitter data.

     6. I started an instance (peerverse.space) 6 months ago. It hosts 7 accounts. No one on my instance has issues with interaction. When I post something, I have no problem receiving likes and comments.

     Clearly, someone's seeing my posts.

     Again, centralized social media doesn't have portable identity!

     Even so, the Fediverse at large has better identity portability than the likes of Facebook or Twitter.

     First the woke hard-coded Gab out of federation in the Mastodong soyce code, and then Gab responded by deactivating federation 1 or 2 months later.
