1. As the Fediverse grows over the next few days, a lot of FUD is bound to spread about it.
How do I know this? That's what happened last time ?
Today, I'm going to address all these "concerns" ?

13. Yet another FUD talking point: "Because the Fediverse is decentralized, Nazis can set up their own servers!"
Yes, Gab tried that. You know what happened? It was cut off from federation. Essentially, it's banned from the Fediverse.
12. Also, I'm quite curious. Should Twitter be decentralized, what will that look like in practice? Will that involve blockchain?
Knowing Elon Musk, I have no doubt this would be the case if it happens.
11. There's a big reason I'm skeptical about Blue Sky as a competitor to the Fediverse. Its website is down. This doesn't elicit confidence. https://blueskyweb.xyz/
10. More FUD: "The Fediverse is already dead because Twitter is going to be decentralized when the Blue Sky protocol is released."
I'll believe it when I see it. No one's using Blue Sky right now. 1.5 million are using ActivityPub now.
9. If ensuring the integrity of your social media data is important to you, there's an easy fix: host your own instance and make weekly or daily back-ups.
Remember, you can own your own Fediverse data, but you can't own your Twitter data.
8. Addressing more FUD: "Data from a Fediverse instance can disappear tomorrow."
Yeah, and this is no different from centralized social networks either. If you don't believe me, just look at all the MySpace data that's been lost.
7. Moreover, if you don't want to lose your Twitter following when you migrate to the Fediverse, there's an easy fix for that: crosspost from the Fediverse to Twitter!
6. I started an instance (peerverse.space) 6 months ago. It hosts 7 accounts. No one on my instance has issues with interaction. When I post something, I have no problem receiving likes and comments.
Clearly, someone's seeing my posts.
5. Another FUD talking point: "If you join the Fediverse, no one will see your posts."
This is the biggest lie. As you can see from all the conversation happening today, the Fediverse is a very active place.
4. On the matter of identity portability, Hubzilla probably has the best implementation of any social network.
And guess what? Hubzilla is part of the Fediverse!
3. 2nd FUD talking point: "The Fediverse has no portable identity".
Again, centralized social media doesn't have portable identity!
Even so, the Fediverse at large has better identity portability than the likes of Facebook or Twitter.
2. Most repeated FUD talking point: "The Fediverse has no secure private messaging."
Funny -- because Twitter doesn't have secure private messaging.
While true that Mastodon doesn't have secure private messaging, other services do.
