@PNS pussies. They should have just said nothing and kept on fishing.
@PNS @ned I agree. It seems like he has an argument. While I don’t know the law, do you actually “own” the water under your dock?
To really piss her off they should have just moved 10 feet so they weren’t physically under the dock and then continued casting lines under it.
@obihahn @PNS Who cares if it's against the law. What is she going to do? It's the equivalent of an old man calling the cops because some kid walked on his lawn.
I think they aren't kids, for one. And there may even be privacy concerns to consider.
@PNS @obihahn You're missing my point. It doesn't matter. They're not imposing or getting in the way. If she calls the cops it'll take a hour for them to turn up. They ask the men to move. They move their boat 10ft so it's not under the dock anymore. And then the cops go home. That's it.
Oh sure they could, but now those two aren't innocently fishing, they're expressing animus. What's to support?
They should just leave where aren't wanted, lol.
This is not a tough concept to grasp.
The very idea of freaking on her like that, they retain some measure of respectability? No. Not even a bit.
@PNS @obihahn hense my op "They should have just said nothing and kept on fishing.".
She was being an unreasonable karen. They got triggered over it. Lame all round.
I still think dock owner bears more rights in this sitch than the interlopers. They're the odd ones out.
They could always go try it on someone else's docks until they get harpooned.
As for privacy concerns, I learned this from Judge Wapner, you could anchor there and just watch that chick all you want. It’s like, if you prance around naked in front of your windows, if you don’t close the curtains and someone wants to park in the road in front of the house with binoculars they have that right and are not violating your privacy.
A good lawyer could make the case for the dock being property and the ground the footings are on is extended by that tenet.
@PNS @obihahn Driveways do not count as your property. There is a Pub down the road from me that built a whole new car park with driveway, and when they tried to connect it to the road council said no. I expect the same is true of docks. Yes you built the dock, but technically if it's over the water it's public land.
@PNS @ned but here is another question, and again I am not a lawyer and have no knowledge of what the law here says.
How far out from the shoreline does the property line extend? If I have a shoreline property, can I build a 300’ dock extending out into the waterway? Is there a limit on the length/size of the dock, sort of like HOA rules? And if that is the case, should it be common knowledge? Is the owner required to post it?
But I still would not have moved.
I think there is a case to be made for the possibility of damage to the pilings.
And leaving hooks and shit under there when they leave.
@PNS @obihahn sure. IF that was the case. But it's not. Also she brought up legal action. I consider that hostile, not polite. Although I don't want to be in the position of defending those guys either. Except from the fact I don't think they were doing anything imposing or unreasonable.
Filming the encounter IMO is also weird. as soon as you bring out the phone it's like your trying to make a scene. I would get offended if someone did that to me.
@ned @PNS that is something, if I were a property owner, I would definitely know/find out before running my yap at a couple of clowns just trying to catch some fish.
I dunno. There are other concerns. Maybe she has kids in the yard or on the dock and she can't relax with two rando dudes that close.
Those two guys really have no leg to stand on. They took a chance, were denied and then act imperious.
Again, she basically asked them to leave. Nothing more.
She wasn't yelling, freaking out. Just filming.
Filming is a default state in 2023. It prolly wised them up to maintain what cool they had left and not chuck shit at her or whatever.
@PNS @obihahn I guess I still live in a high trust society then for what it's worth. Thank God.
@ned @PNS they probably have warrants and don’t want to be seen on video 🤣
@PNS @ned yeah, that’s the go to move in 2023… record them and post it online… “look at these d-bags not listening to my simple request”.
Personally, I would hate being filmed/posted online, even if I were not doing anything wrong. It’s sort of the whole control of my image/likeness thing. I don’t want to show up anywhere that I don’t personally post myself.
@PNS @ned yeah we have to do that. If you want easement to the road, you have to apply to the village board and they will either allow it, deny it, or tell you yes, but not in the location you want.
