The sad reality is that very few Republican and Democratic officials or candidates agree on the state of the country or what the actual problems are that we face. More importantly, they do not have shared goals for what our community or nation ought to be.

Niclas Hedhman (niclas@angrytoday.com)'s status on Saturday, 18-Nov-2023 21:38:38 JST Niclas Hedhman I live ~30km from a nuclear plant, that was closed ~20 years ago due to that referendum.
I still remember it being built in the early 1970s (my best friend's dad was part of construction crew) and back then (cheap oil) they said there was no point in using the excess heat, and instead just heat up the ocean, rather than hot water pipes to the nearby towns, which today would have been a massive benefit (district heating networks exist in all towns).

Interesting. The funny part in the end is that if we had to pick a group to successfully run nuclear power plants, it would be the Swedes.
Then again, I think we are in a difficult valley between discovering a technology and making it really work well.
Boiling steam with splitting atoms to drive turbines is almost like a satire of Victorian technology teleported into the future.

Niclas Hedhman (niclas@angrytoday.com)'s status on Saturday, 18-Nov-2023 21:38:40 JST Niclas Hedhman Good point about "naming".
In Swedish, it was initially "Atomvapen" (Atom Weapons) and "Kärnkraft" (Nuclear Power), but in the 60s/70s, they first tried with "Atom Power, No Thanks!", but that didn't catch on, so later shifted to rename "Atomvapen" to "Kärnvapen", and hammering that term in over a generation, it was easier to convince people of "Nuclear Power, No Thanks" and in 1980, the Referendum was 3 choices, and all 3 was "Shut Them Down"

Makes sense, really. I think these days they're mainly commies who realize that commieism can't compete with capitalism and are trying to bring it down using "climate change" as an excuse. -

They pay for research results and cultivate friendly relationships with journalists.
The rest is Hollywood stuff.
Big Oil is also rarely the same people year to year.

BroDrillard (brodrillard@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Saturday, 18-Nov-2023 21:38:44 JST BroDrillard If greens were about green, they’d support nuclear power because that’s the greenest when you take alternatives in their entirety into account. Their opposition to nuclear power makes it clear they’re anti-civilization.
In addition their funding is likely from elites moneyed scum that want to reduce (White) population.

Either way, I say we should go ahead with new energy technologies and find a way to make them less psycho.... but let's not forget nuclear, and that O&G work really well in certain areas.

The only difference in "vision" between the two parties is the GOP wants to turn back time to the 2000's and the Democrats want to destroy human civilization as we know it.
