   Open source takes support. but I was surprised at the cost of signal, though I am glad it is there!

     @jason @brewsterkahle Plus Matrix doesn't require phone numbers to use.

     @brewsterkahle matrix is open source. Signal is also open source but runs a service used by millions worldwide. You can’t deploy a signal endpoint if they go under.

     I don’t think “running a live service” is what people mean when they say “support”, no?

     @jason You still need a phone number regardless to use it so it's still a gaping hole. It's why I like Matrix or Threema much better than Signal. No phone number requirements.
