Alex Gleason (alex@gleasonator.com)'s status on Thursday, 16-Nov-2023 13:51:06 JST Alex Gleason You know, when I first watched Family Guy, I could not get the hype. In fact I lost respect for people who enjoy it. But coming back to it years later, I still believe it's one of the worst TV shows ever made, and I lose faith in humanity every time. Comedy is about humor. Humor is supposed to be funny. Family Guy has absolutely zero humor. The entire basis of its "humor" is to repeat a word or phrase over and over again, to the point where it "becomes funny" because of "how awkward" it is that it has gone on for so long. I don't think a single episode of Family Guy has ever had an actual joke. Family Guy's humor is physical, not mental. To those who find it stimulating, I suggest you study the blade. - NEETzsche likes this.

djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Thursday, 16-Nov-2023 14:17:19 JST djsumdog Seth MacFarlane has said the show is just a coaster for jokes. There's no real story and no way to remember old episodes. It's a weird skit show, and although I watched it when I was younger, I gave up on it a long time ago. American Dad and the other one have the exact same characters in different models.
What's really bad is The Orville. It's addicting too, but it's also terrible. It's too silly to be a serious Sci-Fi. But it's not funny at all and tries to do actual Star Trek stuff. MacFarlane is literally a self insert, playing the childhood dream of being captain of a star ship.
Star Trek Lower Decks is the exact opposite: it's literally the best Star Trek to come out in over a decade! It's insanely funny and makes fun of all the sci-fi nonsense while still having actual story, character growth/development and it's generally a lot of fun (although the jokes really only works if you've seen at least one Star Trek series).
Now that Lower Decks is four seasons strong and I doubt The Orville will ever come back as there's no way it could compete with something that's 1000x better in every possible way. -

Nick (saunders@noagendasocial.com)'s status on Thursday, 16-Nov-2023 14:21:05 JST Nick @djsumdog @alex the Orwell should be funny. It should be interesting.
I've tried to like it.
As for Family Guy, I must fall into that category of those too dumb to appreciate its finer points.
Seth MacFarlane is witty on talk shows.

In fact after not seeing anything funny on TV in years, I turned mine off and didn't bother to install one in my new house. Alex Gleason likes this.
