    The circle of youtubers kid watches are all somewhat into or at least aware of FNAF (Five Nights at Freddie's, an indie horror game series). With the cinema release of a movie recently, FNAF talk on the tune has increased a lot.

    It is my most recently acquired unreasonable and totally unfair pet peeve that native English speakers are not linguistically programmed to be able to say "fnaf", so they all have to say "fuhnaf".

    It grates, every time. But if they're over 12 years old there isn't much they can do about it really. They won't even know they're doing it.

      I'm aware that I'm not superior to anyone. As a native Swedish speaker I'm unable to notice that I'm bad at Cantonese tones or that I can't keep English s vs z straight.

      @clacke Raise your hand if you just said "fnaf" to yourself at your desk five times...

      @mansr 🤣

      @penguin42 Going straight from the fricative unvoiced "f" to the voiced "n" without any gap in between.

      In English a bit like the transition from "v" to "n" in "haven't" if you are lucky enough to have an accent that doesn't quite voice the "v" and skips the "e".

      Or if you can say "hafnian" and then say it again but skip the "ha".

      Or maybe you can say "that's enough now" and capture that transition from "enough" to "now".

      @clacke In case anyone is wondering, Swedish does have words starting with FN.
