@Moon It dramatically increases the risk of future nuclear exchanges because it's painfully obvious that the USA would get blown the fuck out in a direct conventional war against either/or China or Russia.
@caekislove@Amikke@Moon Tanks are like carriers. They're not useless but they're not ideal either. Western doctrine has overemphasized them because they're not actually serious about warfighting but instead over intraservice rivalries, just like the fighter/carrier jocks have largely prevailed over submarines. Soviet doctrine has known for a long time that artillery is king, and that it's better to attack from above than front on. Even before the era of guided ATGMs, artillery could crush tank formations as long as they had targeting info.
@Amikke@Moon I think the main reason for that is tank warfare. It's hopelessly obsolete yet every "world power" insists on building and using tanks which are easily yeeted using IEDs, handheld infantry weapons and now drones.
@caekislove@Moon it’s been painfully obvious ever since they lost a war against a much smaller bunch of rice farmers running around the jungle with AKs. I don’t think they’re even close to Russia’s level of delusion to believe otherwise. Though this only applies to aggression, it seems that no current major power can win a conventional aggressive war against any other, they all can defend themselves.
@McMongoose@caekislove@Shlomo@Moon One madlad kept dashing their Greater Israel war plans and saved the lives of 20,000 Americans. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Challenge_2002 : "In a preemptive strike, Red launched a massive salvo of cruise missiles that overwhelmed the Blue forces' electronic sensors and destroyed sixteen warships: one aircraft carrier, ten cruisers and five of Blue's six amphibious ships. An equivalent success in a real conflict would have resulted in the deaths of over 20,000 service personnel. Soon after the cruise missile offensive, another significant portion of Blue's navy was "sunk" by an armada of small Red boats, which carried out both conventional and suicide attacks that capitalized on Blue's inability to detect them as well as expected."
@Shlomo@Moon I don't even think the USA could take Iran, at this point. Our military is in shambles and even worse we've sent all the stockpiles to Ukraine and replenishing them will take years.
Our industrial supply chains were crippled by a respiratory disease. How could they possibly function in a scenario where enemy subs are sinking container ships?
@caekislove@Moon >it's painfully obvious that the USA would get blown the fuck out in a direct conventional war against either/or China or Russia. SOMEBODY HIT THE STRIKE ORDER NOW
@PoalackJokes88@McMongoose@Shlomo@Moon I love how Team Blue's defenders like to declare the results invalid because "the Iranians aren't smart enough to have used those tactics". 🙄
