@jeffcliff @Shadowman311 @sickburnbro @yockeypuck You can build an entire malformed personality around believing your smarter than everyone else or that you'll never accomplish anything because your intellectual horoscope was bad. Neither is healthy for a child. -

@sickburnbro @jeffcliff @Shadowman311 @yockeypuck I think so. Mom and dad bragging about you or belittling you. It's tough to raise kids who are above the curve, because people notice and will talk about it. "WOW YOURE SO SMART!" with sincerity, as if the kid needs their ego inflated. I believe in recognizing effort and results not ability. It just has to be sincere, because smart kids hate (when they can see through) being patronized. -

Can confirm. Tested way above average as a youngin, and it became my personality. Had to do cocaine about it until I became relatable again. BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

@smirk @Shadowman311 @sickburnbro @yockeypuck @jeffcliff I knew a literal genius IQ guy who struggled with college and ended up down a seriously bad path that put him into crime. I think he turned a corner, but it was sad to watch. -

@sickburnbro @smirk @Shadowman311 @yockeypuck @jeffcliff For sure. One of mine needed math several years above their age. I will not let them stagnate. Dad gives bonus homework. Someday I hope I'm thanked for that rather than hated. -

Same story just it hit me in hs. I didn't develop any study skill sets because I could intuit so much. So when I was actually challenged my whole personality took the hit. -

@Spingebill @jeffcliff @Shadowman311 @sickburnbro @yockeypuck I think a lot of jobs that would have gone to those people got scooped up through productivity improvements and automation. Or maybe they've always had a hard time finding their way. I'm told prisons have a disproportional number of both ends of the bell curve. -
