   The silliest thing about all the lies about @Are0h , is that they distract from important conversations about how to improve blocklists.

   Someone will say some important criticism about blocklists, but then it'll be drowned out by 5 days of someone else saying "I heard Ro kicks puppies! But only white puppies! He's the real racist!" 🤡

   This is like the 5th round of debunking.

   At this point if you choose to believe the lies, it says more about you than it says about how convincing the lies are.

     @mekkaokereke Oh my word this. I keep realizing that no constructive engagement will work ... which means that intentional or not, the racists drove the conversation off, and likely find this an acceptable outcome.

     That's the point. It's not that they believe these lies.

     It's that they want to stop the conversation on improving blocklists from even happening. Because they're happy with the status quo. They like it.

     But here's the thing: The conversation *is* happening. Blocklists will improve, and will become more widely used. The Fediverse will become more welcoming for more Black users, and without every new admin needing to become an expert in every terrible corner of the internet.

     @mekkaokereke @Are0h Block lists should be treated like error exception handling. If you encounter one it means something needs to be fixed. They don't solve anything, they're the error message.

     Blocklists are not moderation. Moderation is not blocklists. In the absence of robust shared moderation tools, people will use shared blocklists tools to do moderation.

     The fix for that is not "So do away with shared blocklists!" That's silly. The real fix for that includes "So... build robust, shared, moderation tools too maybe?"

     Yes, there are good people working on shared moderation tools too. Yes, some of these folks are sharp critics of blocklists. No, these people don't DDOS Ro.
