Unless you're maybe running a lot of bloat that uses a lot of CPU time.

翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:28:37 JST 翠星石 @SuperDicq The tracking chip is indeed the most power draining component, as the screen should be off most of the time and when the screen is off, really the SoC should be off, as you shouldn't be using it.
It seems that actively ratting out the device's current location uses a lot of processing power. -

SuperDicq (superdicq@minidisc.tokyo)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:56:19 JST SuperDicq @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com Yeah if you do use a phone it is obviously the best to put it in airplane mode when you're not using it and not expecting any calls. Also saves the most battery.
If you have a hardware switch like on the Librem or Pinephone even better.
