And if you've never seen a skirt like this: 18th century petticoats are sewn onto two bits of waistband or ties and are tied to the front and then to the back. This makes them incredibly adjustable and quite comfy!

2. The same, but turning around to tie the front section onto the back. The front of the skirt overlaps the back enough for it to look like a series of seamless pleats.

  Finished the skirt (or petticoat, as it was called in the 18th century) late last night but waited until light (such as it is) to document it. Was half of an old duvet cover, now is a house skirt!
  Worn here on top of everything else I was wearing, so it looks a bit more voluminous than it really is. 😄 The front pleats came out really nice!

  1. A short clip of Sini doing a spin and a tiy sideways dance in her living room, while wearing a shin length faded black skirt. It is a wide length of fabric pleated onto two pieces of waistband, which are tied onto the waist with a yellow ribbon. It is a very full skirt and pretty much indistinguishable from an 18th century petticoat. It's cute and looks fun. She is wearing a black blouse, striped gray socks and a headscarf in addition. There is a bored black cat giving himself a little wash in the background.
  2. A much more close up still photo of mostly just the waist and upper half of the skirt from the front. The pleats are roughly 1,5cm in width everywhere except the centre front, where there is a much wider box pleat. The dense and heavy but soft fabric hangs gracefully down from the pleats. There is no visible waistband, it has been sewn on onto the reverse and only the ghost line of spaced backstitch shows where it is.
