@SNEK @SoyMagnus Bully all tsunderes. No love for tsunderes. NTR a tsundere, flip a tsundere's skirt in public, push a tsundere onto the bed then play vidya, ignore tsunderes, reject tsunderes with a condescending tone, constantly compare tsunderes to other waifus, belittle tsunderes into suicide

@SoyMagnus @SNEK "Today I'm yours, master", I think.
Whoop, I'm wrong, she is unhappy about it. I am bad at grammar.

@SoyMagnus @Zerglingman @SNEK I do not usually read reports, people DM if there are problems, but also I sometimes read reports.

@Zerglingman @SoyMagnus @SNEK It's like "I'll be your host today."

@p @SNEK @SoyMagnus Anyway yeah about the speech, she ends it with "-noni" which apparently roughly translates as "despite", so it's something like "even though today I'm master's..."
So maybe sensei (she's a buruaka right?) forgot and went off flirting with someone else and that's what she's unhappy about.

> which apparently roughly translates as "despite",
I think mostly women say it, but it's kind of a "because it's like" or something like that. It sets up another sentence by implication. I don't think it translates well on its own.
I believe what she is saying is that she does not wish to make oppai heart.

@Zerglingman @SNEK @SoyMagnus "Na no ni" is like three particles for ending a sentence/phrase in a row. I don't know the website guy but I think almost every time I can remember hearing it, it was to set up an implication. @apropos probably knows better.

@p @SNEK @SoyMagnus The site I was reading used it almost exactly like "despite"; "contrary to expectation, with a nuance of disappointment".

@SoyMagnus @SNEK @Zerglingman @apropos Oh, no, I'm not even a beginning Mandarin speaker. I understand just, like, a handful of Mandarin phrases and if I speak, native speakers just look at me like "What?" and then they figure out what I mean and they say "No, it's like blahblahblah" and it sounds exactly the same to me as the thing I said. I can't hear the tones.

@p @SNEK @Zerglingman @apropos i learned a while bavk from a guy its like navajo. It has 4 diferent tones for each letter making it incomprehensovely complicated and dumb. Thats when i decided to hate china and never learn chinese

@SoyMagnus @p @SNEK @Zerglingman ever hear Enigma's "Return to Innocence"? Sung by an Amerindian dude in the music video? It's an Taiwanese drinking song.
4 tones isn't so bad. Cantonese has more. And they're pretty distinct provided you can hear them: high tone, rising, low tone, and falling tone. The characters are also fun to write, and even easier to learn for Chinese than say for Japanese where they're much more overloaded with different readings. There's a funny 4chan post somewhere about how terrible it is to know Chinese and deal with Chinese business in the Chinese market, but you'll notice he doesn't bash the language at any point.
"na no ni" doesn't ring any bells though.

@p @SNEK @SoyMagnus @Zerglingman Those are Japanese characters. I've heard lots of funny speech patterns in anime, but if there's a Chinese idiom like that it's just not coming to mind. My Chinese is pretty rusty though, and also there are large regional differences and slang.

Yeah, Mandarin was a tangent. Up the thread, there was https://gearlandia.haus/media/c8bd0f779afe2aaf05196a87109829f38bf0ba10234167d2dc75f49811dffdc0.jpg , and Zerglingman was curious what the meaning of "nanoni" was.
