Also note that generally DAWs run all activity on a channel on a single core/thread, this includes busses. So if you have 5 tracks on a bus, those tracks will be processed on a single core, which can cause latency, including the time it takes to process each channel before each hits the bus. Everything else has to wait. This also means, the more cores/threads, the better.
Latency is a huge issue if you want to track anything live. For mixing, it really doesn't matter. -

CAVEAT: If you have a USB mic it will be useless. But the savings on a new computer should allow you to buy a decent XLR mic and cable.

Vox (vox@noagendasocial.com)'s status on Thursday, 05-Oct-2023 13:44:51 JST Vox AUDIO PRODUCERS please recommend a computer for audio production. I struggled for several days thinking I was too drunk or too out of practice to sing with a beat, but it turns out I just have a shitty sound card. When I bought this computer, all I wanted to do was a no-frills podcast. Now I want frills, but I don't want to overshoot. My needs are:
- Portability. MUST TRAVEL
- Capable of recording my voice over a previously recorded track with ABSOLUTE PRECISION
-Fuck Apple
- $1000-$1500TIA
