   Politics are always about one single person, or a small group of people, deciding the future of tens or hundreds of millions of people out of speculations and ideals. That will never work. Simply because its biased.
   
   We should let a pragmatic artificial intelligence to govern us. It doesnt even need to be a very complex algorithm.

     @puniko Me neither. That's why I'm asking for a pragmatic AI. Not a Chinese-like "do and think as I say or I will lower your social score and you will end either in jail or dead depending on your score" AI like in psychopass (though in psychopass it would be rise rather than lower). We already have dictators in our world that do that job better than an AI would.

     @puniko That was the idea, but it turns out that people does not have enough understanding of the values it requires for a democracy to actually work.

     @chjara@snowdin.town @lanodan@queer.hacktivis.me @enigmatico@fedi.absturztau.be which is also the case in switzerland lol. governance is done at state, province and community level. and each of them have a way for the people to participate in, either through voting, initiative or referendum.
     i think, having governance only on community level might raise the need of an overarching governance at some point since most communities are not able to be autonomous in themselves and need to interact with others in one or the other way. and as soon as you have to interact with others, you end up with disagreement sooner or later which then needs politics to resolve

     @puniko @enigmatico That thing would probably have forbidden a lot of progressive things in France like LGBT rights unless the threshold is at like majority rule and making sure that you can call for a referendum rather than something in a tech-niche like how most direct democracy (⇒full on technocracy) things have been done so far.

     @puniko @enigmatico @chjara Very old France maybe, at least not the one of the past ~200 years that wanted as most unity through the country as possible.
     It's getting better but so far we just elect for the city and then it's parlement body (with regional representatives) and president.
     There is regional councils but they're more managers than anything else.

     @puniko @chjara @enigmatico Err, actually we got elected regional bodies (last election round got combined so I got confused), but well, still pretty much no power.
     Like for a lot of things you end up having to go to fucking Paris, even in the case of things that got regionalised.
