@Godcast @SuperLutheran just had to listen to this boomer go on about what a free thinker he is "I came from a deeply religious family but then I ackchually read the Bible and found some inconsistencies" when the likely reality is that he fell in with an atheistic group, either online or in academia or somewhere else, and the social proof and novelty given to atheism in that space appealed to him enough to abandon his families faith. It's similar to women that fall into die-hard misandry feminism, they didn't have a close relationship with their father and they fell into a group or a sphere of thought that pushed those ideas on them. America actively teaches people these ideas, then teaches them that *they* came to those ideas on their own as free thinkers. Its kind of incredible tbh. I just had to vent about that, all the best
