I think there is a core of real anti-authority, anti-tradition, direct action, and radical self expression to the best and truest punk stuff (that's why identify as one and like punk music), but the broadness means that anyone can be attracted to it, even for extremely unexamined, misdirected reasons, and it's very easy to misunderstand an anti authority message in populist or right-libertarian directions. I don't know enough about goth to explain why it doesn't fall into this though.

The Galactic Shitpost Outpost (cosmictrigger@kolektiva.social)'s status on Monday, 02-Oct-2023 23:07:03 JST The Galactic Shitpost Outpost @MnemosyneSinger I've been on disability since 1994 for severe mental illness. And now I have really bad osteoarthritis and flat feet that make my ankle very painful to walk on for long periods at a time.
My last roommate literally told me that people who can't or won't work do not deserve to live.
A thing about him that should come as no surprise to anyone:
He is a Gen X punk rocker.
Why are all the Gen X goths hardcore leftists and anti-capitalists and anti-fascists and very understanding of mental illness and Gen X punks right-libertarian (a complete oxymoron) garbage people?
I actually know the answer to this, but I'll let y'all guess.

The Galactic Shitpost Outpost (cosmictrigger@kolektiva.social)'s status on Tuesday, 03-Oct-2023 01:29:31 JST The Galactic Shitpost Outpost @anarchopunk_girl @MnemosyneSinger It's because goth has always been a part of LGBTQIA community. And so goths were always going to be anti-fascist, and you can't really be anti-fascist without being anti-capitalist.
Not all Gen X goths are hardcore left-wingers, but I have not met any who are right wing now.
While it seems almost every gen X punk rocker I know is a fucking Trump supporter now
