   feeling Big Sads tonight 😟 I just chatted with a friend (transfem, to be clear) for the first time in a couple weeks, and found out that the reason I hadn't heard from them is that they're dealing with the fallout from a Hot Allostatic Load moment.

     @nyx it'll keep happening because, in the eyes of cishet and TME folks, we're "men" who are simultaneously proximal to the patriarchy, and unable to call on the patriarchy once we're threatened.

     we're "privileged," and deserve to be held accountable for our "privilege," and yet have little to no effective privilege in practice.

     so obviously we have targets on our fucking backs the moment we venture out of our communities.

     @YKantRachelRead it's incomprehensible to me how this is so fucking common and so clearly able to be explained as a scapegoating ritual to acquire social capital by sacrificing someone who poses no threat and in a symbolic way alone create some sense that the org or community is Doing Something™ and yet it just keeps happening

     all of this shit just reminds me of why I'm so cynical about "leftist organizing." there's just so many traumatized people who bring all of their anger and alienation with them into spaces and then lob it at the first tempting target (usually a transfem person when one's available, but almost always someone marginalized and effectively powerless), with predictably destructive results.

     they're disabled, can't work, and have been dealing with horrid chronic pain these past few weeks. they don't hold any real power, and they were just trying to do a bit of good in this fucked up world. and so much of their support network just fucking abandoned them at the drop of a fucking hat.

     @YKantRachelRead I guess the thing that astouds me more is how many TMA people I've met who have had these experiences, and yet this shit still happens so fucking often where the TMEs pull some bullshit and whoever gets targeted ends up completely exiled and often has no one to tell them like "yeah you got fucked over and aren't a bad person". a lot of the time other transfems take part in it even
     
     it's like, I get it rationally why the TMEs do this and why other transfems just keep their heads down hoping it won't happen to them, but we're stronger together by refusing to allow them to get away with this and leave yet another transfem isolated who already is probably extremely precarious to begin with. it's a situation that has vexed me for years

     @YKantRachelRead @nyx I mean really we're only "men" for this purpose. In a lot of other contexts, particularly when it comes to how we're victims of assault and harassment and in the eyes of fascists we're even less. If it were simply us being "men", while we would be treated in ways that would be conducive to harassment but the discourse wouldn't have such an eliminationist vibe. Transmisogyny is so awesome. Love that in the span of a single bit of drama you can go from denied agency as a woman to treated as your being "aggressive" as a "man" to being sent death threats and told other horrible things as a "subhuman degenerate contagion"
