Shadowman311I know I've talked about this before but I still cannot fathom how bad of an idea NG+ is in a Bethesda game, especially one that is as loading screen heavy as Starfield. Why the fuck would I be interested in doing this game over yet again at all, let alone 10 times? Why would I build outposts or ships, why would I get connected to any companion if I'm just going to throw myself into a portal and leave all that forever? And while we're on the subject why would I get connected to any companion at all? The Romance quests in both this game and Fallout 4, despite being fully fledged quests, are somehow even more shallow and boring than Skyrim, at least there I got kids and a free source of food, and you can get that in under an hour, Fallout 4 and Starfield take hours from what I've seen and all you get is a handful of new dialogue lines and the implication of sex every time you sleep.
This game is infuriatingly both good and completely pointless at the same time and NG+ is the main source of that, how could they possibly blunder "sacrificing yourself to become a God" this fucking much?
Why do you suppose I skipped the Doom remakes? The transition from sprite graphics to 3D was the death of vidya for me, excepting mods and some other early 3D gaymz.
Install this mod alongside whichever Tree mods they recommend, completely changed the game for me, I only wish there was a mod to change all the fallout 50s era stuff with modern looking stuff to really sell the whole Operator aspect that it does so well
I always go with SimSettlements 2. Need to do another playthrough now that it's done. I also install a million tactical mods and guns and just run around doing OPERATOR OPERATOR shit when I do playthroughs. The dungeons and setting are so good for tactical gunplay.
I remember completely walling in the drive in theater area and turning it into a crude starfort with turrets at every point + a more aggressive settlement raid mod. It was great!
In Fallout 4 I spent hours turning The Castle, Bunker Hill, all of my major settlements really, into fortresses and cities, LARPing as the guy "rebuilding society one brick at a time" and it worked because I wasn't going anywhere, and neither were they, but now you just leave it all behind without so much as saying goodbye, its so lame.
>Half feels like they made the game as just a basic template like they expected modders to do all the work to make the shit they pasted together make sense.
That's exactly what they did, Todd has talked about Starfield having the most "robust mod support of any of their games to date" and given how disjointed it all is I understand why.
And yeah the outpost system makes no sense whatsoever, there's no reason to engage with it, also the legendary ships make no sense, because you leave it all behind anyways so who cares?
And like you said, just entirely fucks all the relationships and choices you made. For sake of what? A gimmick? It's a disappointment.
Moreover, the NG+ is awful. You only keep you levels and skill build? Why would I care when enemies are scaled anyway? I'm also still not sure what the outpost system is even for. Or the shops. Half feels like they made the game as just a basic template like they expected modders to do all the work to make the shit they pasted together make sense.
They made an entire alien faction and then made their entire point to be "screw it, play the game again, look at me I'm that one companion that died during the main story weeeeeeee". And remember they have DLC planned for this thing, why would I want to buy the DLC that I would then have to play repeatedly 10 times to get the "full experience"?
They want to make it out to be that we’re just boomers who aren’t with the times or some nonsense like that, but the truth is they just make shittier games with higher budgets. And it’s like this because we’re in a decadent period, among other reasons.
Nah I'm coming around to that opinion. 3d animated shit from the early 2000's-2010's seem like they have more creativity to them than the stuff you see recently. Then again I'm not as big into playing video games as I used to be so I might be missing out on some games but most of the stuff I've seen coming out now doesn't inspire any desire or passion to play.
Part of the issue is that nobody wants to try new things anymore. All the greats, the classics, have already been made, and there’s this homogenization of genre that’s going on which is really gross. Ever notice how your FPSes have RPG elements like getting money to buy equipment based on your kill count and your RPGs are also real-time strategy and so on? Everything is samey now.
Dude, just go /tg/. Board games, card games, TTRPGs. Either do it with online friends or, if you have them, real life friends. Just do it. It’s like a massive sanity check that you will never get from $CURRENT_YEAR vidya. They’re accessible. They’re simple to learn but get extremely complex and deep in a good way if you spend time with them. If you don’t like the rules, it’s not a hassle to “mod” them – they’re called house rules. There are almost no downsides to traditional games.
