Last night's 'interaction' in the Giant parking lot stuck with me. It's not because it scared me (please, I"m used to it by now), but it frustrates me more than anything. How can people be so ignorant? I just cannot wrap my head around it.
Either way, stand your ground if you find yourself on the receiving end of 'Take that mask off" bullies. You don't owe anyone an explanation for wearing a mask, and you sure don't have to back down. Most of these cowards just yell stuff and run off anyway

I got talked to only once. By a drunkard in the subway, so it was easy to let it slide.
A good answer to why you arewearing a mask is to sneeze and say, "So I don't infect you."
You usually get a lot of space after that, I'm told. ;)

@TLB73 There's a very loud element that now lives around here. They're pretty aggressive. It's so odd. It's not a huge amount of people, but they are really aggressive when they see people wearing masks.

Nobody is that brazen here. I get a bit of side-eye and one young lady said "dickhead" under her breath.

Yes, bizarre. That is one word that describes our new world of #Pandemic and ClimateCatastrophe perfectly.
It shouldn't be like that.
The damage of each infection is cumulative, as yo know. And you never know, when something (finally) damages your immune system or an organ (Long Covid).
I usually use a Dearth Vader glance if s.o. even dares to make a move. Worked so far.
Hope I'll never have to use two fingers, LOL.

@HistoPol @TLB73 Outside of that shopping center, I'm usually fine. I get eye rolls or smug comments, but that's it. But I've heard from others that it's happened to them too. One guy almost got into a fight with one of those idiots. It's so bizarre!

It's better to come mentally prepared, thus things do not escalate, as they, not do rarely, do, I think.

Where I live is probably something to do with it, and I'm sure white male privilege is a non-trivial part too, but I've been fortunate so far that nobody's hassled me for wearing a mask.
I can tell myself I'd have all kinds of clever responses if someone did, but I have no idea how I'd react in reality.
