   This is a bit of elevator etiquette I tried to teach my sons.

   When you’re in a elevator with a woman:

   1) Stand in front facing the doors so she can see you and so she doesn’t feel like you’re leering at her. Don’t stand up against the wall.

   2) If it’s clear you’re both getting off at the floor, always go first so she doesn’t feel like you’re following her.

   It feels rude, but she we feel more safe.

     @JCMann thank you. Another one most well-meaning men never consider: when walking on the street, if you’re in her blind spot, a woman doesn’t know if you’re friend or fiend. Most men are thinking abt box scores, tacos, the business mtg they just left, why lint exists etc & have no intention of whacking the woman over the head & dragging her into an alley. Women can’t ascertain this. So pass her quickly, but casually & keep walking. I’ve ducked into doorways to let men pass bc of this habit.

     Every time you see a man in the street, think that he is there to protect you of anything bad, with his life.
     If you can't think this way, you're either too negative, or you are in a bad bad place and you must get out of there.
     No amount of mastodon posts will change this reality, and no amount of mastodon posts will change men's behaviors, our nature is to be free of fear, including that in your mind. Adapt to reality rather than trying to change it.
     And live in a place where you can trust your men.
