Andrew Vachss, world-reknown crusader for children who have been or are being abused, said this once about activism:
"I think there’s only so much ‘care’ to go around inside everyone. The more different things you ‘care’ about, the less you can ‘care’ about any one of them. The people who want to STOP women from having abortions, that’s the ONLY thing they ‘care’ about. But the people who want women to be ABLE to have abortions, they ‘care’ about a whole lot of stuff–clean air, pure water, logging, cigarette smoking, racism, gun control, animal rights, affirmative action, freedom of speech, etc. Fanatics always have more impact than dabblers. When it comes to getting something done, whether it’s breaking a brick with your hand or overthrowing a government, focus is the best weapon of all. People on a jihad are willing to do things most people aren’t."
My focus is capitalism, and by extension, fascism.
So . . . hot take:
Not every leftist is required to care about your particular issue.
A person who is on the verge of being homeless and hungry is not thinking about January 6th, animal rights, or transgender issues (unless this happened because they're trans.)
But there are so many leftists who DEMAND you been seen CARING AND CARING LOUDLY.
I do not want to hear from annoying and self-righteous vegans at all. I care quite a lot about racism and trans issues, but that is because I am not about to be homeless or hungry.
Pick your battles.
If you have an indomitable will and laser-like focus, and put all your effort into that one cause, you are more likely to achieve your goals.
Except, of course, vegans, because no one in the history of mankind has ever changed their views because someone laid a massive guilt trip on them.
