     Actually, it was worse than that. You had to protest the approved causes. Protesting lockdowns was always prohibited.

     A week before George Floyd happened, Gavin Newsom had the CHP beat up and arrest a bunch of antilockdown protestors at the capitol for violating lockdown orders. The next week, he was supporting the George Floyd protests.

     I remember they howled about a protest where everyone stayed in their vehicles. But looting stores was perfectly acceptable.
