  @pixelpusher220 @gerrymcgovern SF6 is a gas with an extremely high dielectric constant.

  Among other things, that means it’s really useful as an insulator in the high-power electrical switches used in places like datacenters.

  @pixelpusher220 Also, SF6 is a major gas in the data center and electricity industry. The industry claims it wants to get rid of it, but its use is due to rise over the next 10 years because of the "Green" transition.

  @gerrymcgovern another major problem is sulfur hexafluoride SF6 has a stable lifetime of centuries.

  Methane is many times worse than CO2, but degrades to CO2 in a decade or two.

  SF6 lasts 2-3x as long as CO2 and is 20,000x worse 😬😬😬
