   It's fucking unreal that transfering files to a tablet is a shitshow of this level
   
   Linux cannot keep the connection because it reverts to keep asking for permissions, which I cannot accept permanently and I've had immense issues on Windows too at some point
   
   Warpinator fails on a whim on huge files
   
   And downloads from SMB shares doesn't even seem to work
   
   What the fuck?

I use it to organize shit or make backups, it's easier and faster than dealing with garbage ui shit :lain_shrug:

     But pretty much every network transfer from android I've tried fails randomly at some point
     
     I had to eventually open up dev mode to actually make the wired connection stable and it not being stuck in authorization hell

     @coolboymew I ended up with either using a chat with myself to send the files, or a local HTTP server (usually python3 -m http.server) and using a web browser. Or, when I could, just uploading it to a microSD card and putting that in the phone.

     I usually fall back to these ancient methods quite fast. They may not be the most comfortable, but they seem to be working reasonably often…

     @coolboymew KDE connect has file send built into it and android support, if it’s not a regular folder that syncthing takes care of I usually use that for local network stuff.

     @icedquinn @coolboymew @mangeurdenuage most of the former Be devs went on to start Danger, thats why the side kick was so cool. Microsoft bought danger and put then to work on Kin and then Windows phone. There is more Be dna in Microsoft and WebOS now than at Google.

     Tablet crap has been a disaster since google has been removing all the normal features that made android practical compared to apple, and making it like apple. And the same thing happen to mobile phones, everything that made android phones better than apple are getting removed to clone apple's bullshit design.

     @coolboymew @wakarimasen we are stuck with this legacy cruft all so that devices can function like iPods and sync drm'd music. Better yet, Microsoft grew bored with running their Playsforsure(tm) DRM campaign and authentication server when they launched the zune, rendering all the music people bought e-waste. This is all why we can't have normal-ass USB host mode.
