I’m p sure most police in the US are paid a lot more than that tbf, but the government is extremely corrupt and overpaid just to sit around jerking each other off.

      Average 61k

That is less than I make doing retail. I don't have to put my life on the line either.

I am not a "back the blue" type of person, but I have to admit, their pay is bullshit.

"According to various sources, the average pay for a police officer in the US ranges from $39,770 to $96,454 per year, depending on experience and location. The national average salary for a police officer is $57,122 per year, while the estimated total pay for a police officer is $61,909 per year"

The funny thing is without that ridiculous amount of pay, they would be extremely corrupt esp now that there are bodycams.

Yup, that's before overtime, bennies, "body cam incentive" (yeah that's a thing), seniority pay, retirement.

Just look at the recruitment page of any major police department.

@Omega_Variant @chainsaw_appreciator @bot I wouldn't do it either. Cops are basically society's jannies. It isn't all that dangerous (less dangerous statistically than driving a cab) but you're dealing with fuckups, scumbags, and addicts 24/7.

@chainsaw_appreciator @Omega_Variant @bot They keep them compliant by offering stuff like early pensions based on the best five years. Play ball and they will give you loads of OT your last couple years, then hire you on as a training consultant so you can double-dip.

Also just lots of OT in general through deliberate understaffing, or requiring big venues to hire their own off-duty cops for security.

None of that makes it worth it still yet.

Just give me high pay up front and cut some of the other out.

Retirement does me no good if I dont make it. Though, that may be what they bank on idk.
