sj_zero (sj_zero@social.fbxl.net)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2023 22:44:10 JST sj_zero Some people who are for unions and against being able to pay people based on their competence instead of seniority say "I really don’t care to play 'who deserves a minimum quality of life'."
Reality doesn’t care whether you care to play or not.
There’s a limited amount of resources, you can’t hire everyone on Earth, you can’t give everyone an unlimited salary. Everything past that you’re making decisions as to who gets what.
And by the way, if you make enough poor decisions eventually everyone loses their jobs.- BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this.

BowserNoodle ☦️ (bowsacnoodle@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2023 22:47:02 JST BowserNoodle ☦️ @sj_zero I'm pro union, but more pro-ownership and co-op. Profit sharing would be a good motivation and also fix a lot of the disparity with CEOs making 1000x their line worker wages. Encourage corporations to use stock equity investments as compensation with amplified tax benefits. It's far less disconnected and cog-in-the-machine feeling when you see the stock price go up and know that you became a bit wealthier in the process. -

((Look at Wawa post Chris Gheysens)) @sj_zero

Smaller companies can benefit from this strategy even moreso once they're at the right stage. HR libtards are literally a cancer that needs purged from any company that's still got a backbone. BowserNoodle ☦️ (bowsacnoodle@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 09-Aug-2023 03:53:15 JST BowserNoodle ☦️ @sj_zero The problems that unions fixed are largely invisible in the first world, although they're slowly returning. They will rapidly return when unions disappear, and we'll see a return to wildcat style "goofy" behavior in their absence, because productivity squeeze always hurts workers the most. -

sj_zero (sj_zero@social.fbxl.net)'s status on Wednesday, 09-Aug-2023 03:53:18 JST sj_zero I'm not opposed to alternative structures than the traditional employer/employee relationship, but not the specific stuff I've seen.
Hey let’s hire Ashok for this position! He’s really good!
Oops, sorry. Bob Whiteman has been here for 30 years. He’s just good enough not to fire but he has seniority so he gets first dibs on the job.
Hey, let’s give Ashok a raise! He’s really good!

sj_zero (sj_zero@social.fbxl.net)'s status on Wednesday, 09-Aug-2023 04:06:15 JST sj_zero I think unfortunately just a lot of the jobs disappeared, sent elsewhere. Much of North America has been in deep decline for 50 years and the unions didn't prevent that.
The thing that's required is for the working class to have more bargaining power, but the union isn't that -- its just the manifestation of power they already had.
I think the things that need to happen are for the upcoming population collapse to occur. Historically, its those eras where working class people get power back. If we're lucky it'll be peaceful, but in previous eras it got really bloody, such as the French civil war.BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -
