There was a lot of work being done in that space across the board and a lot of hype---most of that has died out, and I don't think it's ever coming back. Could be a blessing in disguise for crypto as a whole, who knows?

feld (feld@bikeshed.party)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2023 00:42:52 JST feld ETH should be treated as a security because that's one of its strong points
BTC should be treated as an asset

Most of the people I knew/know who were regularly "keeping up with" and trading crypto have completely stopped...which, I think, is a good thing. That's why I said it all could be a "blessing in disguise" for crypto since what crypto *isn't* and *shouldn't be* is a security commodity. Crypto being treated by people like a stock is what gave it so much volatility which made it not-ideal for use as a currency.

feld (feld@bikeshed.party)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2023 01:23:03 JST feld I see urbit stickers in Miami sometimes which is amusing
Monero -- sure, it's private. the community is too entrenched in "fuck the government, taxes are theft" mindset. Onramp / offramp is too hard. (I know a BTC swap is coming soon) -

Raphael Lullis (raphael@mastodon.communick.com)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2023 03:16:40 JST Raphael Lullis @feld but honestly, even the world of physical art seems like a huge ponzi and a mechanism for money laudering, so there is that.
I do see the value of https://ens.domains and https://unlock-protocol.com , though.
