   @jeremiah @parker I want my phone to be at least as thick as the fucking camera, might as well be extra battery. Fuck user removable tho. I want a phone that doesn’t need a case, and I want my bezels and home button back.

     @parker @charlie_root @gabriel @fcgreg what does removeability/replaceability have to do with capacity? Or are you suggesting they'll use the change-over as an excuse to ship crappier batteries and make more on the parts market?

     I think you can just stuff more in a smaller case with non-removable batteries, since you don't have to make affordances for the user (thinner battery housing, thin ribbon cable instead of more durable connection terminal). Though you can carry multiple batteries so it's not a big deal.

     @parker @charlie_root @gabriel @fcgreg you can also design batteries to be backpackable -- a slim on that fits in the case, a fat one that covers the back of the case and expands the volume for power cells.

     There's no reason batteries have to have any particular form, so give or take the latching, sliding, or covering hardware and enclosures I don't imagine it would be a significant difference, but it's definitely something to watch for in specs. If it adds 2mm to the mobile's thickness... 🤷♂️

     All phones will probably take a dip in battery life, due to the EU legislating removable batteries for all phones. Good overall though.
