@ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 This is why the generation of women who got psyop'd into "living their best life #childfree" are trying to make this a social taboo.

@BowsacNoodle @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 Most of the girls I see advocating not for dating older are also young girls who got manipulated or saw their friends get manipulated.
It's definitely not always a problem and there are some older men who genuinely do want a younger woman not for manipulation purposes. However the majority of older man and younger woman relationships that exist are not healthy or normal in any way.

@HellOnEarth @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 It wasn't uncommon to see a 10 year age gap 100+ years ago. A lot more people died in childbirth or from various wars, disease, civil unrest, and random stuff like alcohol. My family tree has a widow and widower marrying in it 150+ years ago with a gap like that. I'm quite sure nobody thought that was super weird at the time.

@HellOnEarth @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 Possibly. I don't think it should be encouraged either, but if my daughter wants to marry a dude who has his stuff together completely and is 28 when she's 18, she has my blessing. I have a lot of other criteria for what constitutes "having stuff together", and quite a lot of it involves his religious commitments and lifestyle.

@BowsacNoodle @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 But now we don't really to worry about a lot of that due to medicine, especially in the West. And it may have existed but it wasn't the norm and frankly I don't think it should be encouraged. Wanting someone closer to your fathers age is.... Creepy and I would probably say a psychological sign that something has happened to that girl that isn't okay and might create further bumps down the road

@BowsacNoodle @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 I also believe that family members should be a lot more involved in vetting the dating prospects, and in that case maybe dating with a large age gap wouldn't be so horrific. But encouraging it nowadays where parents input is typically discarded would create a lot more problems than solutions

@HellOnEarth @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 Strong agree. I'm trying to soft-areanged marriage my kids. Quite a lot of people I know are as well. It's becoming more common as we all recognize the toxicity of the dating culture.

@BowsacNoodle @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 I get what you mean but you're looking at things through a completely different lense than what is considered to be the standard of dating nowadays, especially for zoomers. I think in this *current* society where parents arent so involved in vetting, the non shaming of these relationships would just end up in many of these women being sexually used and then discarded of for even younger girls like dicaprio does.

@HellOnEarth @ImperialAgent @Shadowman311 Maybe so. I'm talking about what I believe will work for me, and others like me. We have a strong religious belief and we're White and want to keep our traditions. It's incredibly important to me that my children marry within the faith, because of the value systems implicitly and explicitly codified in it. Pls no religious hellthread from this, but I'm telling you this is where I've been having this discussion in real life, face to face, with 80+ other adults with kids who feel the same way.
