     @coolboymew @thatbrickster I don’t really think that you can make good things all that popular unless it’s by direct pressure from the ruling elites, but they will never pressure people to adopt good things because it conflicts with their interests. The push will always be towards goyslop and living in the pods, with people in the fringes pushing in the opposite direction but never really being “the mainstream”.

     @coolboymew @thatbrickster Also to add to this is why I think ease of usability and hosting should really, really be up there in terms of priority. The bulk of the populace will not use the alternative to the mainstream, but you can increase the number of people who will if you make said alternative easy to get into. John Smith the local baker would probably consider it an option if he wouldn't have to think about it that much.

     That's a pattern I still can't find a way to break. I don't understand how people get stuck into such a psychology where they cling to platforms that are hostile to them, or where they're so averse to even browsing something small and indie. Or also the "but everyone's on ___ instead of ___" mentality, where people cling exclusively to platforms they *think* has the most visibility.
