翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2023 18:38:01 JST 翠星石 @jihadjimmy I see a bunch of 0x01D159 characters, as it seems Tor Browser doesn't support those characters (intentionally?).
I believe it's kind of correct behavior to just refuse to render clearly incorrect character sequences and show the character code instead. -

No, you should see no characters at all, just a blank space. -

All the ones I tested do, specially the characters on my nick.
The main reason I have this broken nickname is so that when people complains about it and sends a screenshot, I can guess what operating system they're using and judge them for it. -

HAH, NetBSD doesn't even include proper Unicode font support out of the box. -

翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2023 22:48:58 JST 翠星石 @jihadjimmy I have GNU unifont installed and it doesn't seem to have that character.
It could be that your username relies on proprietary fonts to render "correctly".In conversation permalink -

As far as I am aware, there's not a single piece of proprietary software on my KGPE-D16s that has been installed by me.In conversation permalink -

I can guarantee it doesn't require nonfree fonts, I don't have anything proprietary installed on Debian beyond one single blob and Trisquel Minimal also can display it out of the box. It must be a font that is part of a package other than GNU unifont. In conversation permalink
