   "Twitter rival Mastodon rife with child-abuse material, study finds"
   
   Two things:
   
   1. partway through they consider [japanese loli/AI CG] to be "abuse materials". Even if you find it highly objectionable material, because you've conflated the two I don't actually know what you're talking about when you say there's a lot of "it". Also while this stuff gets challenged at the state level it's a first amendment issue in the USA whether you like it or not. some of these servers are hosted in the USA so singling out Japan's laws seems stupid.
   2. Try getting access to the CSAM fingerprinting service. I know two different people who have tried in good faith and the service refused them. You can't criticize people for not doing enough when you gatekeep them from the tools you let big companies use.

     @Lumeinshin a different fingerprinting system is used that can detect cropped and reduced and altered versions of the same image. and they restrict who they give access to it to.

     I even consider it harmful because it makes actual child abuse look less severe if you're gonna put it on the same tier.

     @coin if they are conflating csam and artwork then yes there's tons of it on this network. I looked at the study and they definitely found real csam but they also used art as examples like a screenshot of someone taking commissions to draw loli art.
