   Got gifted some hand sanitizer. Tried it and it was gross, sticky and white. Checked the ingredients and it contains freaking LACTOSE. Because people want milk in their hand sanitizer?! Y'all think vegans are trying to make you eat the bugs or whatever, but you've got it backwards. It's a conspiracy to kill vegans.

     @alex Any hand sanitizer that leaves a residue is disgusting. Maybe for doctors or people using it 50x a day that matters, but why sell stuff that's dyed or has weird stickiness at all and pretend it isn't just a gimmick?

     @BowsacNoodle @alex After using hand sanitizer every time you leave a patients room, your hands get sticky and weird feeling after a while. So definitely can’t understand having something like this that leaves a sticky residue the first time. Sounds gross.

     @theperksofbeingwho @alex I was told they have some moisturizer in there because the alcohol would otherwise eat up the medical professionals' hands. I would get annoyed with it too

     @BowsacNoodle @alex I can definitely see a moisturizing component being helpful but lactose is sticky right? Definitely don’t want anything sticky right off the bat cause we also go through like 100+ pairs of gloves a day and that would just…. Not be helpful. I’ve had gloves be extremely hard to get off just because of the patients room being hot- I can’t imagine hot AND sticky.

     Can lactose be synthesized? It’s a sugar that naturally occurs in milk, but as a chemical ingredient it might not have actually come from milk.
     
     That said, most hand sanitizers smell and feel gross, regardless of ingredient origins. Just give me some rubbing alcohol, maybe scented with an essential oil like lavender.

     Perfume and other petrol derivates are the worst. Just use alcohol to sanitize hands, if not wounded.

     @AbolishPregnancy @alex Remember in 2020 when every distillery on earth was putting out hand sanitizer? I remember using some that I swear was made with actual tequila. It was really watery too, like all they did was put a tiny dab of aloe vera gel into an extra concentrated batch of mixto.
