Are posts from all instances visible via hashtags? I have a holding account on another instance. There are more posts there for some hashtags. Why is that?
Should I move instances? I'd prefer not to because of annoyance but maybe it's a better option to be on a larger instance?
I'm an academic trying to broaden my reach and connect with other academics, news, INGOs/NGOs, institutes etc. Grateful for any answers. Still trying work out #Mastodon and #Fediverse.

Don't worry, people can see you from other instances, and you can see them.
Not *every* account is visible from every instance though, for very good reasons (more info: https://fedi.tips/why-arent-all-mastodon-and-fediverse-posts-and-accounts-automatically-visible-from-all-servers/) but if you're curious you can see what determines visibility in this article: https://fedi.tips/which-posts-and-accounts-can-i-see-from-my-server/
