Due to technical issues, I find myself half a year late for the mass migration from Twitter to Mastodon. Disappointed with the direction mainstream social media is taking, Mastodon emerges as a refreshing alternative. Its open-source, decentralized nature promotes transparency, while community-driven moderation policies encourage healthy and civilized dialogue. I am eager to give Mastodon a try! 🐘
@anna welcome! Apologies if you're already familiar with all this stuff. Posts aren't searchable, so if you want other people to see what you talk about, use #hashtags liberally. You can find people with similar interests by searching hashtags. You'll probably want to follow at least 50 people to have a regularly updating feed. You can also follow hashtags for the subjects you're interested. Highly recommended you pick a couple. Check out @feditips for more suggestions on tailoring your feed.
