   The “what about people that just won’t work anymore?” argument against UBI is bizarre.
   Those people weren’t working to begin with. Name a single high achiever in their field that would simply do nothing forever if given the option. See? You can’t.
   When everyone has UBI we will be left with only motivated productive people!
   
   The truth is this: when I campaign for better social systems I am actively trying to take away your expendable workers!!!!

     @lanodan @tost if i didn't have to worry about my financial future I would have moved all in into opening a little workshop and making all those useful and/or fun gadgets/software i keep daydreaming about but cant justify working on because they aren't a good venue for making a living.

     @tost Which also reminds me that some job counseling stuff is like "What would you do if you had a million dollar?" and I think a lot of people would actually do pretty interesting stuff.

     @lanodan @tost very this. I used to think software would be an option because I don't need to risk a financial investment in hardware I could mess up - but then it turned out time and mental exhaustion are their own resources.

     @lanodan @tost I think their real concern is that if you don't force people to work for a living then nobody would go to be a janitor or assembly line worker.
