@Suiseiseki I'm not sure if Apple had released any one good product or not. That's a highly controversial statement. However, I can say they have made significant contributions to the computer world in a positive way, particularly in the 80s and 90s.
@seungjin >say they have made significant contributions to the computer world in a positive way Would you be so kind to mention a few examples of such?
I can think of some things they have done, but I wouldn't refer to such as contributions - as such seems to be only neutral or negative things.
@seungjin LLVM only seems to exist as companies don't like how they can't take gcc and make it proprietary.
gcc is still better than any <frontend>+LLVM in every freedom respecting way and is better at optimizing - despite how hard those proprietary software companies try to beat gcc.
I tend to avoid clang+LLVM as it's pure sepples and mediocre.
CUPS ideally wouldn't need to exist if it wasn't for backwards printer design, but I guess that could be the one good thing apple has done (they've now abandoned it of course).
I'm not sure if I use CUPS anymore when it comes to printers that support IPP.
@Suiseiseki Need some research to make all clear but two thing just came to my brain is "Chris Lattner, had been hired by Apple to work on LLVM" and "CUPS(Common UNIX Printing System)" - They are not just a product in a narrow sense though.
