I'm not sure why it is the way it is.

Karl Levik Ⓥ (dbdemon@fosstodon.org)'s status on Monday, 19-Jun-2023 21:19:30 JST Karl Levik Ⓥ @mpts @jornane I wonder if it would be possible somehow to improve the pkg system to prevent `pkg upgrade` from removing packages in situations like this?

0mp at FreeBSD (mpts@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 19-Jun-2023 21:19:31 JST 0mp at FreeBSD @jornane #Firefox is there to stay for sure. What you are observing is most likely that the Firefox package failed to build. That’s why it is not present in the package repository. I’m sure Firefox maintainers are working on that and your browser will be back there in the repository again soon.
For now, you could pkg lock firefox so that it is not blown away by #pkg upgrade.

Jørn (jornane@ipv6.social)'s status on Monday, 19-Jun-2023 21:19:33 JST Jørn Is #Firefox removed from #FreeBSD #ports? pkg search firefox just yields firefox-esr, and pkg upgrade would remove firefox without putting anything back.
