fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Thursday, 15-Jun-2023 06:23:47 JST fu @BetsyBeeee @Radical_EgoCom many workplaces have better, whether achieved by unions through collective bargaining, or by workplaces competing for workers by trying to have better benefits than their competitors.
I know it's uncommon in the UK these days, but a woman can give birth twice in a 12 month period, does the law ensure their 12 month starts over after the second or what?

Betsy Bee (betsybeeee@toot.community)'s status on Thursday, 15-Jun-2023 06:23:48 JST Betsy Bee @fu @Radical_EgoCom It's 6 weeks unpaid medical leave, isn't it? I guess it's more than 0 but viewed from the UK I find it jaw dropping and cruel. Compared to the 12 months maternity leave I had, it does feel like no time off.

Betsy Bee (betsybeeee@toot.community)'s status on Thursday, 15-Jun-2023 06:28:19 JST Betsy Bee @fu @Radical_EgoCom Isn't the point that those with the least power end up with the worst deal? The idea of going back to work 6 weeks after giving birth is shocking. In the UK, the minimal allowance by law enables mothers to take up to 12 months per baby, 9 months of which is paid. Many workplaces have better arrangements for mothers but those are not of interest here.
