     Dan, if somebody says they feel unwelcome and you don’t see why, the correct reaction is not to demand that they cite their sources.

     The correct reaction is to ask yourself what you’re missing, and go do your own work.

     Demanding labor from somebody in distress isn’t just rude; it’s harmful.

     I don’t know how to break this to you, but…you are the asshole here.

     @devinprater @ThisPlaceAgain People keep pointing out that Mastodon isn't very inviting for black people and that there's a lot of racism here, but the only mentioning of black people I've ever seen here is people pointing out that Mastodon isn't very inviting for black people. I've never seen anyone even hint towards the idea that black people aren't welcome here. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but if you want people to see that it's an issue, you have to site your sources.

     @ThisPlaceAgain @stcwhite You are wanted and fuck anyone who makes you feel you aren’t. There are people here who want to make you feel welcome and we hope you stay. There has been a Black and Black friendly community on #Mastodon almost from the start & I for one hope it continues to grow. BTW I feel the same way about the preponderance of #farL accounts but I’ve been searching out Dems and moderate Lefties since I got here and it gets better every day. #BlackMastodon

     @stcwhite I understand why ppl head for the exits. There’s a bad feeling and vibe that’s being emitted to a certain demo. It’s obvious we’re not wanted from the jump. I’ll bounce when the toxicity starts seeping into my soul. Till then, let’s roll.

     @ThisPlaceAgain Since I've arrived, I've seen people head for the exits after a brief time here. I hope that you find a community worth sticking around for. It's a smaller community - with the benefits and deficits that implies - but the concept of decentralized, non-commercial social media is a worthy one, if we can make the culture more accepting.
