@meso @meso @i I'm not familiar with the specific database migrations Akkoma did. It's usually not considered safe to rollback. Make a backup of your database before you go any further. Also, why?

@alex @meso @i do you know how I might be able to migrate from Akkoma to Pleroma?

@alex @meso @i @meso supposedly every akkoma migration is reversible, if true then just running rollback to where the fork happened would do the trick.

@Moon @meso @i @meso They will probably be down for a very long time.

When making this type of change, it's better to pull down the database and attempt the migration locally until you have a game plan.'

If I were you I'd try getting asbestos back online first.

      how does that work?

on the IRC, someone replied to my question about this with:
      >you'll have to rollback all migrations that were applied in Akkoma that Pleroma doesn't have. Afaik, there's no migration path for that. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you could look into ecto migrate, figure out what migrations to rollback, and write the code where needed.

@meso @Moon @meso @i The main problem with that idea is that there are branching paths of migrations. You'll have to rollback more than needed, putting your database in a potentially bad state, before you can roll forward again and redo a lot of the work you just undid.

You'll probably want to isolate the specific migrations Akkoma added, and reverse each one individually: https://akkoma.dev/AkkomaGang/akkoma/src/branch/develop/priv/repo/migrations

The transition from Pleroma to Akkoma is non-reversible, much like trooning out. Poetic.

@meso @alex @i @meso if the migrations aren't actually just reversible then I don't have the time it will take to manually do the conversion because it would probably be fraught with problems.

@Moon @meso @i @alex @meso I will probably be working on testing migration from akkoma to soapbox soon, but it may be a couple of weeks before I begin that process. i'll start doing homework on it sometime this weekend, to see if I can diff out the migrations akkoma made
