if you feel that my critique of the Gemini protocol spec is totally out of line, then maybe address those details in your response. You don't *have to* tell me that I'm a horrible person.

P.S. Not all of them hate you and some people are taking some of your points onboard, e.g. see the final section of

- allow connection reuse for overall connection / TLS performance
- be less ambiguous in the specs
- actually version the specs so clients can be written to support a clearly identified target before evolving the specs further
The Gemini community should do these things, but they probably won't -

Jen Zarzycka (kf6nux@tech.lgbt)'s status on Tuesday, 30-May-2023 21:59:24 JST Jen Zarzycka @bagder while that's true, the critique gave off an overall impression that you thought the protocol was worthless. It didn't come off as constructive the way a "the protocol could be improved in the following ways" post would have.
I don't know enough to say one way or the other about Gemini, but I like the fact someone is trying to de-bloat the web and remove surveillance tools. I wish more folks working on the Internet would think less about corporate needs and more about individuals' needs.
