@ryanhoulihan His style of comedy is basically a snapshot from the 90s when slightly clever white guys could give some opinions mixed with zingers ripped from old Playboy magazines and look like pseudointellectual bad boys. I'm pretty sure his audience are people similarly stuck in time, people who think cheap trolling is funny, and people who think they're far more clever than they actually are.
Remember, this guy was in a movie called "Cannibal Women In the Avocado Jungle Of Death."

@ryanhoulihan And I'll openly admit when I was 13 and he had a new show on Comedy Central, I thought he was cool. Because I was 13 and I didn't know shit. I tried him again in my 20s. Gave up when every damn episode he made it about how corn is killing us all. Like, any time he realized he was out of his depth, here comes the rant about corn and vaccines.

@AmyDentata @ryanhoulihan More or less, yeah. He took Miller's shtick and put a dose of Playboy style on it. Even did his show from the grotto of the Playboy mansion a couple of times. And less overtly Republican so he could play the "truth teller and equal opportunity offender" angle. It was already threadbare when his show was cancelled. Now it's just him interviewing his pro troll palls.

@NIH_LLAMAS @ryanhoulihan Really, he was in the right place at the right time. I kinda go into the zeitgeist of early 90s comedy culture elsewhere in the thread. But yes, you're correct, his comedy has never really dazzled.

@ryanhoulihan I don't understand how he ever got a reputation as a comedian. I've tried watching his standup material. He's as funny as the instructor at the "comedy" driving school I had to attend, who clearly had no plan for how he was going to be funny and in fact did not even remember he was supposed to until 10 minutes in.
