Just discovered that when people write markdown on Mastodon, it gets rendered as such on #Calckey
Here's an example:

@lauren wrote a post with a title that was encased in four asterisks (*)
In Calckey, the title became animated -- making the whole post seem that much more scary.

@atomicpoet @lauren @fediversenews I like the animation but to be on loop while I try to read what's under it is quite distracting. It'd be nice to see a timer for that kind of thing on view or scroll it should turn off after like 5-10 seconds if that.

@jahanson Yeah, this is just one of the amusing side effects of unintentional text formatting. I don’t think @lauren intended to animate his text because on his platform (Mastodon), that’s not possible. And that’s okay.

@atomicpoet @lauren@laurenweinstein.org Thing is, I don't want to turn off animations. I think it's key to why that platform is so fun. I don't really like the approach of "if you don't like the one thing how it is, turn it all off".

No matter how cute or useful in itself, a formatting feature is BAD if it is not recognized by all servers and UIs.
The thing that the Fediverse needs more than anything else is a STANDARD for message format and markup.

@JorgeStolfi @Bigou The *key apps and Akkoma use a text formatting standard called Misskey Flavored Markdown (MFM). It’s been around for years, and is gradually becoming more popular.

@JorgeStolfi@mas.to Personally, I far prefer moving text over the old <blink></blink> balise. (Which is long depreciated.) Can give a sense of urgency to the text without giving me headache, where text contained in the "blink" never did anything for me beside give me headaches.
But as was said in another comment by @atomicpoet@mastodon.social you can desactive that in #Calckey's options, anyway.

@atomicpoet @lauren @fediversenews I like the effect, but I wonder if it would make more sense for the *key apps to disable Markdown rendering (or *key-specific Markdown rendering at least) from posts that came from Mastodon, so that they can be viewed as the author intended.
