@smallcircles @grb090423 FediMovies is a fork of Mitra with some automation built-in to make it specific for movies review, and not a generic microblogging server. I also removed all blockchain/cryptocurrency/subscription features.
Great, thank you. And also that you decided to document a FEDERATION.md for the #ActivityPub heuristics used.
I updated the guide for new AP implementers to refer to that doc: https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/guide-for-new-activitypub-implementers/479#federationmd-25
@smallcircles @grb090423 Yes, all the source is here https://code.caric.io/FediMovies the project name is FediMovies (very creative) lol
Excellent thing to do.
So many could benefit from your efforts. Thank you :bongoCat:
Great initiative. A #Fediverse app that deals with #Movies similar to #IMDB has been discussed many times. I think there will be a lot of interest for this.
If you have source code available give me a heads-up or consider PR'ing to delightful-fediverse-apps at the https://delightful.club and add it to the list.
@grb090423 Thank you! It’s a hobby thing I’ve been thinking about for a while. Now finally getting out of the drawing board. :blobcatadorable:
It's sounding great!
I wish you well with it 👍
@grb090423 No limit in this. As long as it exists in the TMDB (https://www.themoviedb.org/) dataset it should be fine. I wanted to use WikiData as data source, but that will take a bit longer to get around.
Ooh interesting! 👍
Will it be limited to hollywood movies or include films from around the world?
@rafaelcaricio @grb090423 @smallcircles Nice! Is it going to be a friendly fork, or do you plan to develop it as a separate codebase?
@rafaelcaricio @grb090423 @smallcircles Thanks! If there's something I can do to make maintenance easier for you, let me know.
@silverpill @grb090423 @smallcircles It is a friendly fork. But I don't plan to have it as a generic ActivityPub server. I will upstream things that might benefit Mitra as well.
I have a soft-fork without the movies changes and with basically only removing the blockchain/subscriptions here: https://code.caric.io/reef/reef
This is to make it easier to pull downstream and upstream changes.
@silverpill I just had a hard time figuring out what formatting style you are using. When I ran `cargo fmt` it generated many modifications. Do you use anything customized there?
@rafaelcaricio No, I don't use a formatter. I'll check cargo fmt, maybe there's a way to configure it to match my preferences.
@rafaelcaricio Unfortunately rustfmt is not flexible enough. I'm mostly satisfied with the output but there are few things which are not configurable (for example, imports_layout requires nightly, and I didn't find a parameter for not stripping trailing semicolons).
There's now an alpha version for testing deployed at https://alpha.fedimovies.rocks
How it works? Look at any movie listed on https://www.themoviedb.org/ and copy the title plus the year and format like so:
@{TileOfTheMoviePascalCase}_{YEAR}@alpha.fedimovies.rocks
The profile of the movie will re-toot your review for its followers. You can also look up and follow movie profiles following the same schema above.
@silverpill Oh! I see. Thank you for checking. It would really help to keep consistency between changes and avoid unwanted changes due to formatting.
@rafaelcaricio I created a tracking issue: https://codeberg.org/silverpill/mitra/issues/33
