@tb@axolotl@stairjoke But didn’t you just contradict your own argument? You openly admit that the majority of mass shootings are perpetrated by the right, who also happen to be the ones who own the most guns and advocate against gun control. So wouldn’t the logical deduction be that, it seems, the community with gun control (and less guns overall) also seem to have less mass shootings?
@stairjoke@tb the US is a paradox because many of the people that most urgently need to prepare to defend themselves and their communities from racists and neo-nazis are the ones who want gun control most. Its well known that the vast majority of mass shootings are caused by the right. Meanwhile Cherán, Mexico, is now one of the safest areas in the country. 13 years ago it was one of the most dangerous thanks to Narco and military violence. What happened 13 years ago? The people armed themselves and kicked out the police, politicians and narcos from their community. Their quality of life has also gone up considerably, not just because of the lack of violence but its amazing the services and infrastructure that can be funded when the government isn't stealing the majority of the peoples resources. What the people of Cheran did can be accomplished by any community in the world given enough will and organization.
@axolotl@tb I just don’t think that violence is the solution for inequality. I don’t see the guns in the US solving racism, freeing suppressed minorities, or lifting people out of poverty. Its not like guns appeared yesterday, they’ve been around a while, and the US has not been getting less racist or more equal because of them. What is your thinking here?
@axolotl@tb Thats what we have our governments for, you know. So we don’t suddenly becomes slaves of anarchic people with guns. And I’m quite happy not being at risk to get shot. COuld you provide a source link for that graphic thouigh, just so the thread is clean.
@tb the problem is going to have guns whether we like it or not. Convince the cops and military to give up their guns and i will willingly give up mine. Until then, "an unarmed people are slaves or are subject to slavery at any given moment"
@axolotl@stairjoke@tb Interesting, all the public information I can find speaks about a non-violent movement. Using sticks and stones to drive out the gang members. Taking up arms from the former police and running regulated community patrol today, with strict gun controls in place for anyone else.
Can you please provide how exactly the ownership of guns led to Cheran becoming a better place? I can't find anything.
